Job summary

Randstad USA in West Haven, CT is seeking an EHS Specialist to support the development, implementation and continuous improvement of Environmental, Health & Safety programs at a new manufacturing site.

You will focus on environmental permitting, regulatory compliance and EHS system rollout during startup, with standard 8am–4pm hours and full W-2 benefits offered. A Bachelor\'s degree and 2+ years of experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Entry level role with at least 2 years of EHS experience.
• Bachelor's degree required.
• Environmental and safety knowledge is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead EHS commissioning, PHAs, PSSRs, and MOC for new facilities and equipment.
• Manage multi-media environmental permitting (Air, Water, HazMat) with regulators and consultants.
• Perform hazardous material inventories and MAQ evaluations.
• Maintain air, stormwater, and wastewater permit compliance.
• Direct RCRA hazardous waste storage, inspections, and disposal.
• File regulatory reports (TRI, Tier II, Air, Wastewater).
• Track regulatory shifts and implement required compliance updates.
• Oversee OSHA programs (LOTO, Confined Space, HazCom, Respiratory, Fall Protection).
• Drive incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective actions.
• Manage contractor safety compliance and high-risk work permits.
• Maintain ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 EHS management systems.
• Author SOPs, deliver training, and track EHS metrics.
• Lead internal audits and support regulatory inspections.

The EHS Specialist would be responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the company's Environmental, Health & Safety programs. During the initial startup phase, this position will focus on environmental permitting, regulatory compliance, facility commissioning, and implementation of EHS systems for a new manufacturing site.
