Job summary

CARBO, a leader in technology and services for the oil and gas industry, seeks an Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist to support compliance across domestic facilities. Responsibilities include inspections, environmental monitoring, incident investigations, and training coordination.

The role requires a BS degree in a relevant field and 0–3 years’ EHS experience, with travel up to 10%. Proficiency in MS Office and knowledge of federal/state regulations are preferred.

Qualifications

  • BS degree in environmental science, health & safety, or related field.
  • 0–3 years’ EHS experience in a plant environment or EHS regulatory agency.
  • Knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations and OSHA/MSHA regulations is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on environmental, health and safety (EHS) compliance support for CARBO domestic manufacturing facilities through regulatory tasks and inspections.
  • Collect air emission, water, and waste samples from manufacturing plants for lab analysis and regulatory submissions.
  • Support operations with regular facility inspections to identify and report hazards.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with plant leaders, employees, and EHS staff or consultants.
  • Assist with development and implementation of environmental policies, programs, procedures and standards.
  • Coordinate and deliver EHS training programs for employees.
  • Coordinate safety committees at the plants and communicate with government agencies as needed.
  • Complete environmental reports required by state and federal agencies.

Position Summary: The Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist supports compliance and safety initiatives across CARBO manufacturing facilities by conducting inspections, coordinating environmental monitoring and reporting, supporting employee training, investigating incidents, and ensuring adherence to environmental and safety regulations. This role works closely with plant leadership, employees, and regulatory agencies to promote a safe, compliant, and environmentally responsible workplace.

  • Provide hands‑on environmental, health and safety (EHS) compliance support for CARBO domestic manufacturing facilities through technical support of compliance tasks such as emissions testing management, regulatory reporting, incident investigation, employee training and routine inspections.
  • Collect air emission, water, and waste samples from the manufacturing plants for lab analysis and submittal to regulatory agencies.
  • Support operations with regular inspection of CARBO facilities to identify and report hazards.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with plant leaders, employees, and other EHS staff or EHS consultants.
  • Assist with planning, development and implementation of environmental policies, programs, procedures and standards.
  • Assist in developing, maintaining and delivering EHS training programs.
  • Coordinate and support employee safety committees at the plants.
  • Coordinate communication and interactions with governmental agencies, including requests for information, investigations, inspections and enforcement activities.
  • Complete environmental reports that are required to be submitted to the state and federal governmental agencies.
  • Performs other related EHS duties and/or special projects as needed.

Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications:

  • BS degree or higher in environmental science, health & safety, or related science field.
  • 0 – 3 years’ EHS experience in a plant environment or EHS regulatory agency.
  • Skills required: verbal and written communication, interpersonal, mathematics, and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations and/or OSHA/MSHA regulations is preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and changing priorities for multiple locations.
  • Ability to work in an office setting, manufacturing plant, and field locations.
  • Effective in building working relationships and working in a team environment.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced operational support environment and adapting to changes quickly.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office tools.
  • Ability to travel is required; estimated 10%.

Working Conditions:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
  • Positions self to install equipment, including under desks.
  • Moves throughout the building to access files.
  • Must be able to comprehend and follow written and oral instructions.
  • Must be able to complete tasks even with frequent interruptions.
  • Must be able to use discretion and independent judgment as needed.
