Job description

The Role:

We are seeking an EHS Specialist to join our Environmental, Health & Safety team. In this role, you will partner with scientists, laboratory teams, and manufacturing professionals across our sites in Wilmington, DE, Newark, DE, and Spring House, PA to advance safety and environmental programs. This position combines strategic influence with hands‑on support, providing opportunities to strengthen compliance, drive continuous improvement, and foster a strong safety culture throughout the organization.

Working closely with Technical, Manufacturing, and EHS teams, you will help implement EHS policies and procedures, support site initiatives, and promote a safe and compliant work environment across all locations.

Compensation:

The current salary range for this role is estimated to be $82,000 - $110,000. In addition, this position may also be eligible to earn performance-based incentive compensation. The specific compensation offered to a candidate will be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

What You’ll Do:

This is a regional role based in laboratory, production and office settings, to develop, review, implement, promote, and champion EHS culture, best practices, policies and procedures. The role requires interaction with technical teams and site leads in the various locations. The role requires on‑site attendance with some flexibility to periodically work from home depending on tasks, workload, and manager approval. General expectations are that the role will be split equally between the three sites.

Key responsibilities include the following:
  • Promote a proactive positive safety culture for all site residents.
  • Evaluate, improve, implement and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, EHS best‑practices, procedures and policies for pharma process, analytical, QC, and biology labs and production settings.
  • Partner with site residents to ensure the safe operation of their routine, daily, and non‑routine activities.
  • Liaise with key stakeholders in safety assurance, including landlords, vendors, and local authorities.
  • Support Management of Change (MOC) processes and coordinate assessments of work areas.
  • Provide classroom and hands‑on training in both a fixed and as‑needed basis
  • Coordinate tracking of and compliance with online trainings as required of employees.
  • Contribute to safety committees
  • Report and track near misses and incidents
  • Assign, track, and close CAPAs for near misses and incidents
  • Act as a leader and resource for technical teams seeking assistance for EHS topics
  • Attend regional meetings and interact with colleagues within EHS network
  • Report and close action items from corporate EHS, internal and external site audits for the Wilmington and Spring House sites
  • Oversee environmental action items such as permits, audits from external agencies, waste management, etc. for the Wilmington and Spring House sites
  • Maintain proper records of EHS activities and procedures
  • Commit and act, under all circumstances, in accordance to the values and principles of Roquette’s Code of Conduct / Ethics, as well as Quality, Safety and Environmental policies
  • Implement applicable global HSE policies, initiatives and programs
  • Work with site level cross‑functional teams and global HSE leadership to drive continual improvement for H&S and environmental performance
  • Record, analyze and report site EHS performance data
  • Perform gap analysis and implement actions working toward compliance with relevant ISO standards per the company Health and Safety Policy
What You’ll Need:
  • Education:
    • Bachelor of Science in scientific field
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 7 years’ relevant EHS experience in pharmaceutical or industrial fields
    • Extended knowledge of ICH GCP guidelines, FDA regulations, OSHA compliance, GDPs, EPA, DNREC, and PADEP regulations, regulatory agency compliance
    • Adaptable, independent and solutions driven with strong problem‑solving abilities.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work in cross‑functional global teams and build positive working relationships.
    • Hands on person and able to multi‑task
    • Good spoken and written English.
    • Legally eligible to work in USA
Work Environment

This is a full‑time position on‑site position.

Physical Demands
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to speak or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk, climb stairs, use hands and fingers to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms; work in hot, cold and loud environments. Employee must be able to wear a respirator.(if applicable--manufacturing only)
