Job summary

Tyonek Native Corp in San Diego, CA is seeking a Safety Technician I to support the EHS Manager in planning, implementing, and coordinating safety and environmental programs in accordance with regulations and policies.

You will assess workplaces for hazards, train staff on PPE and safety procedures, and help maintain records while ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local laws. This role requires strong English communication and a solid EHS background.

Qualifications

• AS degree or certificate in EHS-related studies.
• Strong written and spoken English communication.
• Knowledge of curriculum design, training delivery, and measuring training impact.
• Familiarity with federal, state, and local safety/environmental laws and regulations.
• Knowledge of customer service principles and meeting quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Assess workplaces for environmental hazards (radiation, chemicals, biology, noise).
• Assess physical hazards (slips/trips, equipment, machinery).
• Train personnel on safety topics and PPE use, including respirator fit testing.
• Verify PPE and respirator usage per regulations.
• Investigate incidents and near misses to determine root causes.
• Maintain safety/environmental records and documentation.
• Assist EHS Manager in planning and coordinating programs.
• Provide ongoing safety training and duties as required.
