Job summary

Vulcan Elements in Durham, NC seeks an experienced EHS professional to lead safety programs and ensure regulatory compliance across manufacturing operations. The role requires 4–6 years of experience, OSHA 30-hour training, and strong communication skills to partner with R&D and process engineering for safe scale-up and ongoing compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent education/experience required.
• 4–6 years of job-specific experience.
• Working knowledge of OSHA standards, JHA development, and incident investigation methodology.
• Comfort operating with real authority and autonomy.
• Strong communication skills and credibility with stakeholders.
• Completed OSHA 30-hour training.

Responsibilities

• Review procedures and draft job hazard assessments.
• Run risk-based inspections and close corrective actions.
• Lead tailgate program and develop supervisors' ability to run it.
• Build safety observation and suggestion program to generate trend data.
• Lead self-assessments and safety checks across the floor and document results.
• Monitor safety equipment inventories and PPE supplies.
