Job summary

The Visual Pak Companies are seeking a Senior EHS leader to direct environmental, health, and safety programs across multiple sites, including warehouses, laboratories, and manufacturing operations. You will align the corporate EHS strategy with site execution and serve as the EHS SME for the enterprise.

You will investigate incidents, drive continuous improvement, and mentor EHS specialists while collaborating with R&D, Operations, Engineering, Sustainability, and Product Safety leadership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Sciences, or equivalent mix of education and experience.
  • Advance certification such as CSP, CHI, CHMM, CEAS is preferred but not required.
  • Bilingual in Spanish, both verbally and written – Preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead site EHS programs across manufacturing sites, warehouses, labs, and related activities.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain Safety & Health policies and procedures.
  • Investigate injuries/illnesses, determine root causes, and drive corrective actions.
  • Partner with HR to file incident reports and manage accommodations as needed.
  • Perform risk assessments and ensure actions minimize environmental and safety impacts.
  • Utilize EHS software to track metrics and trends; monitor regulatory compliance.
  • Provide training and mentorship to EHS specialists within the network.
  • Lead compliance reviews, audits, and internal/external inspections.
  • Support capital projects with sustainability considerations and safety planning.

Skills

Job description

Primary lead for multi-site EHS programs. Oversee training, development, implementation, and maintenance of Safety & Health policy and procedures. This position is responsible for the alignment and execution of the corporate EHS strategy and management of the EHS programs and organization. The jobholder will serve as the lead EHS SME within the enterprise and work with R&D, Operations, Engineering, Sustainability, and Product Safety leadership to ensure continued adoption and refinement of the Company’s EHS culture.

This role is accountable for all elements of the environmental, health, and safety (EHS) performance and continuous improvement for Visual Pak. The scope of responsibilities for this position will cover all employees and contractors working on behalf of the Company and will cover overall site activities, warehousing operations, laboratories, and process/track worker’s compensation claims.

Knowledge-Skills-Abilities

:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational H&S, Environmental Sciences, or equivalent mix of education and experience.
  • Advance certification, additional specialized safety education and/or equivalent work experience desired but not required. These may include Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CHI), or Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM). Certified Ergonomist Assessment Specialist (CEAS)
  • Bilingual in Spanish, both verbally and written – Preferred.

:

  • At least 3 years working in a manufacturing environment as a safety professional preferred.
  • Investigate and evaluate root causes for occupational injuries/illnesses, incidents and near misses and maintain relevant data for driving strategic program decisions.
  • Present strong communication skills with the ability to actively listen to others as they relay information. Practiced written skills including information presentation, and comfortability speaking to a diverse audience in both interpersonal and large group settings is a must.
  • Ability to analyze and evaluate option, solutions, and exercise judgement in making sound decisions.
  • Partner with Human Resources to file incident reports, following up on restrictions and determining light duty/accommodations as necessary
  • Ensure appropriate risk assessments are conducted and corrective actions implemented to minimize or eliminate injuries and environmental impact while providing timely, valuable, and cost-effective solutions.
  • Utilize corporate EHS software systems necessary to support compliance activities and the tracking/reporting of EHS performance metrics and trends.
  • Basic understanding of ergonomic principles.
  • Displays efficient time-management skills by meeting deadlines while multi-tasking, stopping/starting work assignments, and redirecting attention as necessary.
  • Recognizes and respects confidentiality in various formats.
  • Intellectual curiosity and ability to grasp the challenges and opportunities facing our changing manufacturing operations.

All duties as assigned and the following specific activities.

  • Participates in site compliance, review, and audits (internal and external).
  • Manage site industrial hygiene plans including exposure monitoring/modeling, containment testing, and hearing conservation need.
  • Monitor site-specific EHS leading and lagging indicators.
  • Practice safe working techniques and reinforce the safety policies, guidelines, and procedures as set out by the Company.
  • Delivers on time information when asked to research, investigate, and analyze information.
  • Participates in environmental, health and safety reviews, routine environmental and safety inspections, and incident investigations where applicable with manufacturing and maintenance personnel including developing and implementing.
  • Act as EHS Subject Matter Expert, responding to questions from sites and other stakeholders.
  • Required to maintain current EHS knowledge and regulations pertaining to The Visual Pak Companies business activity. Provides notice of changes, updates, or financial impact to appropriate management.
  • Partners with departments about training compliance and safety initiatives.
  • Provides research on topics and best practices as required.
  • Identify site-specific circumstances requiring changes to the EHS management system, and enable the successful implementation and sustainability at a local level.
  • Act as a mentor to other EHS Specialists within the network.
  • Support plant leadership on capital project planning to align sustainability efforts with capital and engineering projects.
