Job summary

AbbVie is seeking an EHS professional to provide day-to-day EHS support for Lake County, Illinois operations. You will partner with leaders to manage EHS risks, ensure regulatory compliance, and promote safe work practices across maintenance, facilities, and labs.

Responsibilities include field coaching, risk assessments, incident investigations, training, and contractor oversight. Strong knowledge of LOTO, hot work, heights, confined spaces, and regulatory readiness is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in EHS, engineering, science, or a related field with at least 5 years of relevant experience.
• A relevant masters degree may offset part of the experience requirement.
• EHS support experience in industrial/operational/lab/engineering/construction environments preferred.
• Knowledge of critical safe work practices: hot work, LOTO, heights, confined space, surface penetration.
• Experience with risk assessments, audits, investigations, and corrective actions.
• Contractor and construction safety experience preferred.
• Ability to translate requirements into practical controls and build stakeholder relationships.
• EHS or engineering professional certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary EHS partner for assigned Operations-based functions.
• Provide field presence, coaching, and practical EHS guidance to employees and teams.
• Apply knowledge of hot work, LOTO, heights, confined space, and surface penetration.
• Conduct risk assessments, job hazard analyses, and pre-task planning.
• Support regulatory compliance, inspections, audits, and corrective actions.
• Lead or support incident and near-miss investigations and corrective actions.
• Develop and deliver EHS training and communications.
• Support EHS for contractors and construction activities.
• Maintain and communicate EHS metrics and KPIs.
