Job summary

The role requires building cross-functional partnerships, mentoring the safety team, and promoting a proactive culture of safety and quality across shifts. This is a full-time, on-site position in Abilene, KS.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an EHS program or 4 years of experience in an EHS role.
• 5 years of manufacturing experience.
• Knowledge of EPA and OSHA regulations and compliance program management.
• Proven ability to influence and work with cross-functional teams.
• Ability to establish networks of peers in the factory to lead without direct authority.
• Excellent communication skills in English (spoken and written).

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead the implementation of technical and administrative EHS direction within the plant.
• Champion Safety Pillar team; drive continuous improvement and proactive safety culture.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA and regulatory requirements including hearings, protection, and CPR/First Aid.
• Review and update internal policies to align with regulations and standards.
• Conduct hazard and risk assessments; develop or update policies as needed.
• Lead incident investigations with corrective actions.
• Analyze incident data to identify root causes and trends.
• Prepare training materials to support compliance and safety awareness.
• Collaborate with operations and engineering to improve efficiency while reducing compliance costs.
• Provide EHS support to plant leadership and staff.
• Manage Workers' Compensation claims and related reports.
• Supervise the 2nd shift Health & Safety Supervisor.
• Uphold GMP and food safety standards.
