Job summary

MATSYS in Sterling, VA is seeking an experienced Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Manager to lead safety, regulatory compliance, and sustainability programs across manufacturing and R&D environments.

The role partners closely with production, engineering, and executive teams to drive a proactive safety culture, manage regulatory risk, perform audits and incident investigations, and support zero‑injury operations in a high‑tech materials setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, Business, or related field; or equivalent experience including certifications.
• 7+ years in environmental, health, safety, or related field.
• Regulatory knowledge: OSHA, EPA, DOT, other standards.
• U.S. citizenship or eligibility under FAR/DFAR requirements.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain EHS systems and safety programs.
• Ensure compliance with federal/state/local environmental regulations and OSHA standards.
• Manage hazardous and non-hazardous waste handling, storage, and disposal.
• Lead safety leadership initiatives, injury prevention, and RCA investigations.
• Create site EHS policies, procedures, training and documentation; manage audits and corrective actions.
