Job summary

Reading Truck Body, part of the J.B. Poindexter & Co. family, seeks an experienced EH&S leader in Reading, PA. You will drive safety culture, regulatory compliance, and environmental programs across a large manufacturing site.

Lead audits, incident investigations, and emergency planning while partnering with operations and hourly teams to improve EH&S performance and ensure continuous improvement. Strong credentials welcome.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in EH&S or Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of progressive EHS experience.
• Large site heavy manufacturing experience.
• ASP, CSP, CIH, CHMM, or PE preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Lead EH&S strategy, audits, and a strong safety culture.
• Oversee environmental programs and reporting (NPDES/stormwater, wastewater, permits).
• Maintain OSHA compliance including LOTO, machinery, NFPA, PPE, and hazard communication.
• Lead industrial hygiene programs and provide EH&S support for projects.
• Own incident reporting, root-cause investigations, and corrective actions.
• Develop and coordinate emergency plans and site readiness.
• Analyze safety metrics, identify trends, and reduce injuries.

Location: Reading, PA

Your Impact – Big and Bold:

Lead environmental and health and safety initiatives within a fast-paced, heavy manufacturing environment. As a key member of the facility leadership team, this role is responsible for EH&S regulatory compliance, safety culture, environmental programs, site security, and EH&S training, ensuring company goals and milestones are achieved.

This highly collaborative leader partners closely with Operations management, supervisors, and hourly team members to strengthen safety, drive compliance, and promote a proactive EH&S culture across the facility.

What a Like: Day in Your Life Looks Like:

• EH&S Leadership: Partner with site leaders to drive EH&S strategy, compliance, audits, and a strong, proactive safety culture.
• Environmental Compliance: Lead environmental programs and reporting, including NPDES/stormwater, wastewater, hazardous waste, Title V/air emissions and permits, and Tier II.
• Safety & OSHA Compliance: Maintain OSHA compliance and programs covering LOTO, machinery, NFPA, welding, cranes, PITs, PPE, hazard communication, and other general industry standards.
• Industrial Hygiene: Lead industrial hygiene programs and provide EH&S technical support for plant operations and projects.
• Incident Management: Lead incident reporting, root-cause investigations, corrective actions, and follow-through to resolution.
• Emergency Preparedness: Develop emergency response plans and serve as the site's emergency coordinator.
• Risk & Performance: Analyze safety metrics, identify trends and risks, and implement strategies that reduce injuries and improve EH&S performance.
• Regulatory & Medical Coordination: Monitor regulatory changes, maintain required OSHA records, and partner with the onsite medical team on return-to-work programs.

What You Bring to the Table:

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in an EH&S related discipline or Engineering
• Experience:
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive EHS experience
• Large site heavy manufacturing experience
• Certification /License:
• ASP, CSP, CIH, CHMM, or PE preferred but not required
