Job summary

Armor Group, Inc. is seeking a Safety Program Specialist responsible for implementing and maintaining the company’s Safety Program. You will collect safety data, develop charts on safety metrics, and ensure regulatory registrations are current.

The role requires coordinating training, directing the Safety Committee, investigating incidents, and driving continuous improvement of safety practices across the shop floor and office areas.

Responsibilities

• Implementing new safety procedures and policies
• Collecting, updating and preparation of safety data (i.e. OSHA 300 Log, MDSD library, etc)
• Developing charts/graphs on safety metrics from collected data
• Maintaining safety regulatory registrations, certifications, listings and related correspondence
• Developing and maintaining training matrices for safety related training
• Developing and publishing safety training modules, classes, and coordinating outside safety training
• Directing the activities of the Safety Committee
• Investigating and tracking of accidents and near misses
• Coordinating the company’s DOT program
• Organize and distribute plant-wide safety communications
• Participate in machinery and plant hazard assessment
• Manage the company’s PPE and First Aid supplies
• Performing weekly safety and bi-weekly 6S inspections
• Driving continuous improvement of the company’s safety program
• Additional items as assigned by manager

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma or GED required
• Prior experience in safety field is preferred
• Bachelor’s degree is preferred
• Certifications in OSHA’s 30 hr safety course and CPR are preferred

EQUIPMENT USED

This position uses a personal computer, copier/fax machine and telephone.

WORKING AND PHYSICAL CONDITIONS

This position works from an office area but significant amounts of time will be on the shop floor.
