Job summary

Nox Metals in Ferndale, MI is seeking an Environmental Health & Safety Manager to design and implement an EHS program from the ground up. You will lead training, hazard assessments, incident investigations, and ensure OSHA/MIOSHA compliance at the Detroit-area facility.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in EHS or related field and 7+ years in manufacturing EHS, with a proven track record of building programs and working across shop floor operations to enforce safe practices.

• Proven track record designing and implementing EHS programs, not just maintaining them.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement the EHS program from the ground up, with support from People Operations as needed.
• Train shift leads so the basics run without you, and lead new-hire and refresher training.
• Run hazard assessments and incident investigations to closure.
• Own OSHA/MIOSHA recordkeeping and permits, and keep the site audit-ready.
• Manage PPE, machine guarding, lockout/tagout, and forklift and crane safety.
• Work with ops and software on engineering controls when safety issues trace back to process or equipment.

Nox Metals is a technology company in Detroit supplying metal. We use software and automation to supply metal to American factories faster than the industry thought possible.

Shift Hours: Monday - Friday, w/ability to work weekends as needed.

You will:

• Design and implement the EHS program from the ground up, with support from People Operations as needed

• Train shift leads so the basics run without you, and lead new-hire and refresher training

You are:

• Educated, with a bachelor's degree in EHS, Occupational Health & Safety, Health and Human Services, or a related field

• Experienced, with 7+ years in EHS in a manufacturing or industrial setting

• A builder, you have designed and implemented EHS programs, not just maintained them

• Comfortable on the floor, you can talk to an operator and write it up in a way that holds up later

• Firm, you hold the line with a shift lead who wants to skip a step

Nice to have:

• Metals or CNC manufacturing background

• Experience with ITAR-controlled material

• OSHA 30, CSP or equivalent certification

• Comfortable using AI tools to work faster and smarter

This role is full time, in person at our Ferndale location.
