What You Will Do

As the EHS TFSM Oregon Environmental Engineer, you will serve as the site's primary environmental compliance authority, driving program ownership, regulatory engagement, and cross‑functional collaboration. Core responsibilities include:

Regulatory Compliance & Program Ownership
  • Serve as the site subject matter expert for stormwater compliance programs, including National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permits, Stormwater Pollution Control Plans (SWPCPs), and applicable local, state, and federal regulations under the Clean Water Act (CWA)
  • Serve as the site subject matter expert for regulated waste compliance programs, including hazardous waste management, manifesting, storage, and disposal in accordance with the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) and Oregon‑specific regulations
  • Support and contribute to air compliance programs, including permit conditions, emission reporting, and adherence to applicable local and federal air quality regulations
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with all applicable environmental permits, regulations, and Intel's internal environmental standards and policies
  • Conduct comprehensive environmental program audits to assess program health, identify compliance gaps, and develop actionable corrective and preventive action plans
  • Track audit findings through to resolution, ensuring timely closure and documentation in alignment with Intel's internal standards
  • Benchmark environmental performance metrics and drive data‑driven improvements to reduce Intel's environmental footprint
  • Proactively influence and educate senior leadership on environmental program requirements, permit conditions, and the environmental implications of site growth, capital projects, and operational changes
  • Build and maintain strong business stakeholder relationships with site operations, facilities, supply chain, legal, and other support organizations to integrate environmental considerations into day‑to‑day decision‑making
Collaboration & Technical Review
  • Collaborate with a team of environmental engineers to peer review permit applications, compliance reports, and regulatory submissions, ensuring consistency, technical accuracy, and alignment with Intel's standards and policies
  • Partner with cross‑functional teams on new construction, facility modifications, and technology development projects to proactively identify and address environmental permitting and compliance requirements
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of environmental training programs for site personnel, ensuring awareness of regulatory requirements and Intel's environmental commitments
Behavioral Traits & Competencies

  • Tolerance for Ambiguity: Comfortable navigating uncertainty and managing competing priorities in a dynamic semiconductor manufacturing and technology development environment
  • Stakeholder Influence: Proven ability to build trust‑based relationships with business partners and effectively influence decisions at all organizational levels without direct authority
  • Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical and regulatory topics into clear, actionable guidance for diverse audiences – from factory floor technicians to executive leadership and regulatory officials
  • Technical Expertise: Deep, demonstrated knowledge of stormwater, waste, and broader environmental compliance disciplines, with the ability to apply regulatory knowledge pragmatically in an industrial setting
  • Results Orientation: Track record of achieving measurable environmental outcomes by effectively leading, engaging, and aligning internal and external partners
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, or a closely related field
  • 5+ years of experience specifically focused on environmental compliance program implementation and execution
  • Semiconductor manufacturing, advanced manufacturing, or technology development experience, with an understanding of the unique environmental challenges and regulatory landscape associated with these industries
  • In‑depth knowledge of federal and Oregon‑specific environmental regulations, with particular emphasis on waste management (RCRA/Oregon Hazardous Waste regulations) and stormwater (CWA/NPDES)
  • Experience with air compliance programs, including Title V or synthetic minor air permits, emission inventories, and regulatory reporting under federal and Oregon air quality rules
