Job summary

Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. seeks an EHS Engineer I/II to lead day-to-day Environmental, Health & Safety across multiple sites in MI and CA, supporting audits, incident response, safety program rollout, and environmental compliance.

This hands-on, field-oriented role partners with site leadership to build a proactive safety culture, conduct inspections, trainings, and ensure regulatory alignment with OSHA, MIOSHA, and CAL/OSHA General Industry standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience developing and executing safety programs.
• Experience conducting audits, inspections, and incident investigations.
• Proficiency with OSHA, MIOSHA, and CALOSHA General Industry standards.
• Ability to work across multiple locations in a fast-paced environment.
• Preferred EV battery safety knowledge and chemical hazard awareness.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary frontline EHS contact for assigned sites, responding to safety questions and requests.
• Conduct routine inspections and walkthroughs across R&D, labs, EV spaces, and offices.
• Support corrective actions and tracking to closure.
• Assist site teams in meeting safety expectations during maintenance, construction, vendor work, and track operations.
• On-site liaison for contracted security.
• Deliver toolbox talks and trainings.
• Assist with rollout of new EHS standards issued by corporate leadership.
• Maintain EHS records and prepare for agency inspections.
• Participate in incident investigations using RCA, 5Why, fishbone, or Job Safety Analysis methods.
