Job summary

Symrise is seeking an Environmental, Health and Safety Coordinator for our New Jersey site. You will support and maintain EHS policies, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, while performing regulatory research, audits, and delivering presentations.

You will report to the Regional EHS Manager and lead special projects. The role requires at least 2 years in a manufacturing setting; CSP is preferred, and experience with wastewater treatment and ISO 45001/14001 is

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with environmental regulatory reporting (Industrial Wastewater Discharge Permit, SARA 312 Tier II, SPCC and SWPPP) beneficial.
  • ISO 45001 and 14001 standards knowledge.
  • Strong ability to conduct audits and implement corrective actions.
  • CSP certification preferred.
  • Experience operating a wastewater treatment system is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain EHS procedures and programs in compliance with local, state, and federal statutes.
  • Provide EHS training and orientation to employees.
  • Conduct internal EHS compliance audits and implement corrective actions from findings.
  • Regulatory reporting and environmental data analysis.

Your role

The Environmental, Health and Safety Coordinator (EHS) will support and maintain EHS policies within the designated site to ensure compliance within organizational as well as local, state, and federal regulations. Able to respond to technical and regulatory inquires with minimal oversight. Coordinator will have the ability to perform regulatory research, perform audits, write reports, create & deliver presentations, and lead special projects. EHS Coordinator will report directly to the Regional EHS Manager.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Maintains all applicable procedures, processes, and programs relating to EHS within compliance with all local, state & federal statutes.
  • Assists with record keeping, presentation, & evaluation of department Records & Key Performance Indicators. i.e., KPIs (300 log, Incident Log, Utilities, Tier 2, etc.)
  • Provides EHS training & orientation to new & existing employees (NHO, LOTO, etc.)
  • Maintaining EHS programs aligning with organizational and regulatory requirements
  • Perform internal EHS compliance audits and manage the implementation of audit corrective action recommendations from internal/external audit sources.
  • Evaluates, Implement, and Maintain ISO standards 45001 & 14001.
  • Maintain environmental regulatory requirements related to air quality and emission, wastewater, storm water, as well as solid and hazardous waste management.
  • Cultivate and continuously improve a "safety Culture" among all site employees, believing in a zero-injury workplace.
  • Conduct, Review, & Communicate Job specific Risk Assessment across all processes (PPE, Ergonomics, etc.)
  • Incident investigation and reporting
  • Assists with workers compensation investigation, reporting, and follow-up.
  • Represents the organization before governing agencies, inspectors, & auditors
  • Respond to emergencies and perform basic medical first aid and medical checks of all site associates.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably having prior experience in operating a wastewater treatment system.
  • Prior experience in environmental regulatory reporting related to Industrial Wastewater Discharge Permit, SARA 312 Tier II, SPCC and SWPPP is beneficial.
  • Experience in tracking, analyzing, and reporting environmental data a plus.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) is preferred.

Pay Transparency Disclosure: The expected annual salary range for this position is USD 65000.00 - USD 80000.00. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job‑related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and company performance.
