Job summary

Gate Gourmet in Newark, NJ is seeking a motivated Safety and Compliance professional to support and monitor the Environmental, Health and Safety program for the unit, focusing on prevention of injuries and environmental compliance. The role reports to the Manager, Ops, Safety and Compliance and requires strong training execution and regulatory knowledge.

The position emphasizes coordination with Transportation as well as audits, incident investigations, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in safety/risk in fast-paced environments (airline/food processing/distribution).
• Ability to interpret OSHA/EPA and other regulatory rules; hands-on execution.
• Excellent presentation and training skills.

Responsibilities

• Conducts safety training programs for all employees, ensuring compliance with new-hire, as-needed and annual refresher requirements.
• Special focus on Transportation Department training for CSR/CSA and recurrent training.
• Maintains training matrix for the unit and keeps documentation updated.
• Reviews transportation training and manuals to ensure current requirements are met.
• Investigates accidents and injuries to determine root causes and supports corrective actions.
• Communicates prevention steps via Safety Alerts, Acknowledgement Forms, and shift briefings.
