Job summary

University of Hawaiʻi at Manoa seeks an Environmental and Health Safety Specialist to lead the development and implementation of occupational and environmental health and safety programs for CTAHR facilities and operations. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of relevant safety work experience.
• Strong knowledge of environmental and occupational safety principles.
• Knowledge of federal/state safety laws and regulations.
• Proven capability to identify problems and implement solutions.
• Ability to document findings clearly and prepare reports.
• Ability to travel and work with diverse teams.

Responsibilities

• Develops, implements, coordinates, and maintains occupational and environmental health and safety programs for CTAHR departments, units, operations and CTAHR clientele to promote a positive safety culture.
• Coordinate a Hazardous Materials Management Program in accordance with EPA and other applicable rules and regulations. Develop and implement programs related to use of hazardous materials.
• Coordinate an OSH program to ensure compliance with HIOSH Standards, Fire codes, and other regulations; conduct inspections, training, and prepare reports.
• Conduct accident, near-miss investigations; recommend corrective actions and analyze data for trends.
• Develop and maintain the CTAHR Emergency Preparedness Plan and emergency response plans.
• Provide consultation on health and safety issues for CTAHR facilities and operations.
