Job summary

Symrise is seeking an Environmental Health and Safety Specialist in Columbus to maintain EHS programs, ensure regulatory compliance, and train staff. You will conduct audits, manage incident responses, and support ISO 45001/14001 initiatives while focusing on a zero-incident safety culture.

Minimum 2+ years in manufacturing is preferred, with wastewater treatment experience beneficial. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on performance.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with wastewater treatment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain all EHS procedures, processes, and programs in compliance with local, state, and federal statutes.
• Assist with records, presentations, and KPI evaluation (e.g., logs, incidents, utilities).
• Provide EHS training and orientation to employees (NHO, LOTO).
• Maintain EHS programs aligned with regulatory requirements.
• Conduct internal EHS audits and manage corrective actions from audits.
• Evaluate, implement, and maintain ISO 45001 & 14001 standards.
• Maintain environmental regulatory reporting related to air quality, wastewater, storm water, and waste management.
• Foster a safety culture and conduct site-wide risk assessments including PPE and ergonomics.
• Lead incident investigations and reporting; support workers' comp investigations as needed.
• Represent the organization before regulatory bodies, inspectors, and auditors.
• Respond to emergencies and perform basic first aid checks.
