This is an individual contributor position and does not have direct reports.

What You Will Do

  • Act as the internal Athenahealth subject matter expert across the organization.

  • Participate as a member of the MedNOW administrative leadership team.

  • Provide Athena support to providers, Medical Assistants, Front Desk staff, Clinic Managers, billing teams, and administrative departments.

  • Troubleshoot Athena system, workflow, and user issues and follow concerns through to resolution.

  • Submit, track, and escape support cases directly with Athenahealth.

  • Maintain communication with Athenahealth representatives regarding system issues, updates, and organizational needs.

  • Keep leadership and affected departments informed of significant system issues and resolutions.

  • Identify recurring Athena issues and recommend long-term solutions.

  • Review current EHR workflows and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, consistency, and accuracy.

  • Help standardize Athena workflows across MedNOW clinic locations.

  • Support workflows related to scheduling, clinical documentation, referrals, orders, patient communication, work queues, billing, and other Athena functions.

  • Lead or coordinate approved EHR projects, workflow changes, and system improvements.

  • Review Athenahealth updates and communicate changes that may affect MedNOW employees or operations.

  • Coordinate testing and implementation of new Athena functionality or workflow changes.

  • Develop Athena training materials, guides, and standard operating procedures.

  • Provide Athena training and support for new and existing employees.

  • Support Athena training as part of employee onboarding.

  • Help identify employees or departments that may need additional EHR training.

  • Coordinate Athena user access, roles, and permissions.

  • Work with Human Resources and department leadership to update access for new hires, transfers, role changes, and terminations.

  • Help ensure system access is appropriate based on an employee’s responsibilities.

  • Assist departments with Athena reporting and available system functionality.

  • Work closely with Revenue Cycle, Quality, Operations, and leadership to identify EHR-related needs.

  • Identify EHR concerns that may affect patient care, documentation, billing, compliance, or clinic operations and elevate them appropriately.

  • Protect patient and organizational information and follow HIPAA, privacy, and information-security requirements.

  • Maintain documentation of important Athena processes, workflows, support issues, and system changes.

  • Take ownership of assigned EHR projects and provide leadership with regular updates on progress, risks, and recommendations.

  • Perform other EHR and system-support duties as assigned.
