Job summary

Stonhard seeks a Safety, Health & Environment professional in Fort Wayne, IN to assure safe operation of manufacturing and warehousing facilities. The role ensures compliance with OSHA, fire, environmental regulations and trains personnel on applicable requirements.

You will implement OSHA programs, manage recordkeeping, coordinate emergency response, and lead monthly safety meetings across Fort Wayne facilities. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • BS degree in Safety Management or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years related experience in safety, environment, health.
  • Knowledge of Contractor Safety, OSHA standards, EPA regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure OSHA compliance for Fort Wayne, IN facilities.
  • Enforce fire code regulations at manufacturing/warehousing sites.
  • Implement OSHA programs, training, and recordkeeping.
  • Regulate environmental compliance incl. waste management, Clean Air/Water Acts, stormwater.
  • Coordinate emergency response and spill readiness.
  • Lead safety meetings and trainings; track inspections.
  • Investigate incidents/near misses and drive corrective actions.
  • Maintain PPE programs and safety supplies.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Primarily responsible for assuring the safe operation of Stonhard's manufacturing and warehousing facilities in Fort Wayne, compliance with all applicable regulations and training of Stonhard personnel in applicable requirements.


Essential Functions


  • Responsible for general OSHA (Title 29CFR) compliance in all Stonhard manufacturing and warehousing facilities in Fort Wayne, IN.

  • Ensure facility compliance with all applicable national and state mandated fire protection codes in all Fort Wayne, IN.

  • Responsible for implementing, conducting, and maintaining OSHA required programs, training and recordkeeping of all Stonhard employees located in Fort Wayne, IN facilities.

  • Responsible for compliance with environmental regulations (Title 40CFR) in Fort Wayne, Indiana Stonhard manufacturing and distribution facilities, including specifically, but not limited to:

  • Solid and Hazardous Waste management and disposal

  • Clean Air Act compliance and Clean Water Act compliance

  • Stormwater Permitting

  • Emergency Response Assist and work closely with the Corporate Manager- Environmental, Health and Safety with safety and environmental inspections, sustaining EH&S metrics, permitting and compliance.

  • Responsible for tracking daily and weekly facility housekeeping/compliance inspections at all Fort Wayne, IN facilities.

  • Coordinate emergency response for hazardous material and hazardous waste incidents.

  • Also has responsibility for maintaining spill response readiness (spill cabinets).

  • Responsible for maintaining and enforcing PPE requirements and supplies for all facilities in Fort Wayne, IN.

  • Responsible for conducting incident / near miss investigations, root cause analysis, and assignment of corrective actions.

  • Responsible for proposing implementing and maintaining loss reduction measures, programs and training at all Fort Wayne, IN facilities.

  • Responsible for hosting monthly safety meetings and presenting monthly compliance training to manufacturing and warehouse facilities in Fort Wayne, IN


Minimum Requirements


  • BS Degree in Safety Management3-5 years related experience.

  • Knowledge of Contractor Safety

  • Knowledge of OSHA standards

  • Knowledge of EPA regulations

  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal fire codes and regulations

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills

  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to work alone or as part of a team.

  • Ability to solve problems as they arise.

  • Attention to detail.

  • Ability to react appropriately in stressful situations


Physical Requirements


  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear.

  • The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds; frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds; and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

  • This position requires consistent wearing of safety glasses, gloves, and steel-toed boots with additional specific PPE depending on the chemicals or materials handled, which could include respirators, hearing protection, or specialized gloves for hazardous substances while on the worksite.

Benefits and Compensation

The pay range for applicants in this position generally ranges between $70,000 and $80,000. The range is an estimate based on potential employee qualification operations, needs, and other considerations permitted by law.
