Job summary

Cagayan State University seeks an Environmental Health & Safety student for an internship on the Erie campus. You will assist with coordinating with OSHA/EPA/DOT, developing EH&S policies, and supporting safety programs on the production floor.

This role emphasizes strong communication, hands-on safety, and data-driven reporting, with opportunities to participate in training and audits.

Qualifications

• Pursuing an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• Basic understanding of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and regulatory requirements.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Coordinate EH&S activities with regulatory agencies such as OSHA, EPA, and DOT.
• Assist in creating and implementing internal EH&S policies and programs.
• Support facility safety and maintain systems for safe operations.
• Respond to emergencies following established procedures.
• Observe and report non-conformities in quality systems.
• Maintain security and safety of equipment and key access.
• Assist in EH&S documentation and training program development.
• Conduct safety compliance audits including PPE and machine guarding.
• Identify hazards and assist in corrective actions.
• Gather, analyze, and report monthly EH&S metrics.
• Support drills and emergency preparedness activities.
• Collaborate with operations, maintenance, engineering, and leadership on EH&S initiatives.
• Assist with capital project safety evaluations and related docs.
