Job summary

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Carry beeper and IP phone to take calls, assign staff, and deliver pager report to next shift.
• Monitor bed tracking system.
• Clean all assigned areas using proper PPE and cleaning methods.
• Report aesthetic issues and repair needs to manager; tag defective equipment per protocol.
• Handle waste removal including biohazard/infectious waste and sharps following protocol.
• Provide job training for new hires.
• Manage linens delivery and removal per established protocols.
• Maintain supplies on carts/closets and ensure orderly conditions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Overview

Functions as lead worker in patient care areas of the hospital. Responds to calls for service from other departments and may direct the activities of other staff on a given shift. Communicates effectively the status of the department's activities to the oncoming shift and must be able to implement verbal and written instructions.

Requirements

Major Responsibilities

• Carry beeper and IP phone to take calls/requests and assign staff as required by situations. Document all requests in log and deliver pager report to next shift/Sr. Housekeeper. May rearrange staffing to ensure adequate coverage during callouts as needed.
• Monitor bed tracking system.
• Clean all assigned areas, using vacuuming, dry and damp mopping techniques. Perform all duties in a safe manner, donning appropriate PPE according to standards.
• Report all aesthetic issues and need for repair to manager. Remove and tag any defective, damaged, or broken equipment using LOTO as required.
• Use cleaning chemicals in accordance with use guidelines.
• Handle waste removal, including general, biohazard/infectious waste, sharps, hazardous, and confidential waste, using appropriate protocol. May handle hazardous waste.
• Provide job training for new hires.
• Issue, deliver, and remove linens to areas in accordance to established protocols, documenting all issues.
• Maintain and replenish supplies on carts/closets in orderly clean fashion according to established protocols.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
