Job summary

EFP is seeking a Maintenance Manager for its Bishopville, SC facility to lead maintenance operations, safety programs, and continuous improvement initiatives. Qualifications

Maintenance Manager – Bishopville, SC

JOB SUMMARY

The Maintenance Manager leads the maintenance function for EFP’s Bishopville location, ensuring that all plant equipment, facilities, and grounds are safe, reliable, and operating at peak efficiency. This role is responsible for preventive and predictive maintenance programs, team leadership, budget oversight, continuous improvement initiatives, and day-to-day maintenance execution.

The Maintenance Manager partners closely with Operations, Quality, and EFP Corporate teams to support operational excellence, capital projects, and corporate initiatives while maintaining compliance with all safety and regulatory requirements.

DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Leadership and Safety
  • Maintain a safe, compliant, and environmentally responsible work environment in alignment with OSHA, NFPA 70E, and EFP safety standards.
  • Provide hands‑on leadership to the maintenance team, including coaching, training, performance management, and accountability across all shifts.
  • Select, develop, and evaluate maintenance team members to ensure strong performance and skill development.
  • Conduct performance management activities, including goal setting, providing ongoing feedback, and annual reviews.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement
  • Support and participate in environmental health and safety inspections and audits.
Maintenance Operations
  • Oversee installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of manufacturing equipment including hydraulic, pneumatic, steam-operated, and electromechanical systems.
  • Ensure safe and reliable operation of production equipment, including electrical systems ranging from 24V to 480V three-phase.
  • Develop, manage, and execute preventive and predictive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Ensure production equipment, facility systems, utilities, and grounds are maintained to company efficiency and safety standards.
  • Own CMMS utilization and accuracy, including work orders, PM schedules, completion rates, and maintenance records.
  • Maintain accurate and complete documentation of work performed.
Inventory, Projects, and Vendor Management
  • Manage spare parts, materials, and maintenance supplies inventory to ensure availability while controlling costs.
  • Coordinate contractors and vendors for repairs, capital improvements, and new equipment installations.
  • Obtain bids, support vendor selection, and oversee work execution to ensure safety, quality, and cost expectations are met.
  • Recommend, plan, and implement equipment upgrades and improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
Strategic and Financial Accountability
  • Develop and manage the maintenance budget, including labor, materials, and outside services.
  • Establish, track, and report key maintenance KPIs including downtime, PM compliance, backlog, and spend.
  • Use operational and financial data to drive accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Actively support Lean, 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives at the site and corporate level.
Cross-functional Support
  • Partner with Operations, Engineering, and Quality teams to resolve equipment issues and improve manufacturing reliability.
  • Support capital projects and operational initiatives with minimal disruption to production.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Associate’s or Technical degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Maintenance. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Five to eight years plus of progressive maintenance leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of high-voltage three-phase electrical systems, low-voltage and control circuits, and electromechanical equipment.
  • Experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, steam, and automated manufacturing systems.
  • Experience with CMMS platforms and preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Proven project management and vendor coordination experience.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and a demonstrated commitment to safety.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work hands‑on in a fast-paced, non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment.
  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and participate in on-call rotation as required by plant operations.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Frequent standing, walking, stooping, bending, reaching, and use of hand‑eye coordination.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds.
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS
  • Safety glasses are required in the plant
  • Hearing protection is required in the plant
  • Safety/Steel-toed shoes are required in the plant
