Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. is seeking a dock worker to move freight across the dock area to and from trailers for loading.

Starting pay is $21.16 per hour with a 0530-0900 shift. This role requires a high school diploma, being at least 18, and the ability to lift substantial weights; prior warehouse or forklift experience is preferred. The work is fast-paced and safety-focused, with opportunities to grow within FedEx Freight.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Prior warehousing, freight handling and/or forklift experience preferred.
• If hostler/yard mule duties required, experience preferred.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/carry hand freight of varying weights several times a week, to lift dock plates weighing approximately 100 pounds, and to open trailer doors requiring approximately 75 pounds of lift force, up to several times per day or more.
• Ability to bend, twist, squat, pushing/pulling freight throughout shift.
• Ability to work independently and/or as a team member.
• Previous dock/warehouse experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate forklifts, pallet jacks and hand trucks to move freight.
• Verify freight documentation matches description.
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets and straps.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Complete required documentation and reports.
• Assist customers with freight and documentation.
• Perform hostling duties if required.
• Comply with laws, regulations and company policies.
• Perform other duties as required.
