Job summary

Goebel Fixture Company is seeking a skilled Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) to join our dental team in Charleston, SC. The EFDA will assist the dentist, perform expanded functions as allowed by state law, and contribute to high-quality patient care.

The ideal candidate has EFDA or EDDA certification, CPR, and strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Responsibilities include clinical assistance, expanded duties, administrative tasks, and ensuring a clean, compliant practice

Qualifications

• Minimum high school degree or equivalent.
• Dental Assistant state certification (including nitrous oxide, radiology, EFDA/EDDA) per state requirements.
• CPR certification required.
• Bilingual preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist dentist during restorative, endodontic, and surgical procedures.
• Prepare and maintain dental instruments, equipment, and materials.
• Maintain sterile environment and follow infection control protocols.
• Place and contour restorations, take impressions, and apply sealants per state law.
• Take dental radiographs and conduct preliminary charting.
• Greet patients and provide post-treatment oral care instructions.
• Maintain accurate patient records and schedule appointments.
• Manage inventory and order dental supplies.
