Job summary

Coastal Kids Dental & Braces is seeking a skilled Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) to join our Charleston, SC dental team. The EFDA will assist the dentist, perform expanded functions as allowed by state regulations, and ensure high-quality patient care with a compassionate approach.

You will prepare instruments, maintain a sterile clinic, take impressions and radiographs, greet patients, educate them on post-treatment care, and manage records and scheduling.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• EFDA/EDDA dental assistant certification or state-equivalent required.
• CPR certification required.
• Bilingual preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist the dentist during procedures and provide chair-side support.
• Prepare and maintain instruments and materials.
• Ensure sterile environment and follow infection control protocols.
• Perform expanded functions as permitted by state (EFDA duties).
• Take impressions and conduct radiographs as allowed.
• Greet patients and provide post-procedure instructions.
• Maintain patient records and schedule appointments.
• Manage inventory and place orders.
