Job summary

Metra in Chicago is seeking an Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Specialist reporting to the Director, EEO and Compliance. The role ensures equal opportunities in employment and conducts investigations into discrimination, harassment, or retaliation across Metra's six-county region.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in HR or related field and at least four years of EEO investigation experience, strong communication, and proficiency with Microsoft 365 and HRIS; travel and flexible

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in HR management, business or public administration, or related discipline.
Four years of EEO workplace investigation experience in addition to the degree.
Extensive knowledge of federal, state, and local EEO/Title VII laws.
Experience with investigative interviewing techniques.
Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and HRIS systems.
Strong verbal and written communication and analytical skills.
Willing to travel within Metra's 6-county region and work flexible hours.

Responsibilities

Conduct investigatory interviews alleging discrimination, harassment or retaliation.
Analyze supporting documents and prepare comprehensive reports for internal and external enforcement agencies.
Respond to inquiries on potential EEO matters and assist with required EEO reports.
Make district location visits for interviews, trainings, and presentations.
Prepare trainings related to EEO/Title VII compliance.
Promote safe work practices and maintain a compliant work environment.
