Job Description Summary

Hiring pay range: $29 - $36.78 plus competitive shift differentials. Performs standard and complex neurophysiological recordings on a population from neonates to geriatric. The position also performs cerebral silence and intraoperative EEGs.

Job Description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Under the general supervision of the Department Supervisor or Coordinator, perform EEGs on a range of patients from neonatal to geriatric.
  2. Demonstrates positive interpersonal skills with patients, patient families, laboratory staff, physicians, and other members of the Hospital staff.
  3. Prepares patients for testing and applies a variety of biopotential electrodes as required.
  4. Performs intraoperative EEGs noting all ischemic occurrences.
  5. Calibrates, evaluates and adjusts instruments.
  6. Removes electrodes and cleans the patient as needed.
  7. Cleans and maintains the equipment and testing room in an organized and sanitary fashion.
  8. Recognizes abnormal sleep, respiratory and cardiac patterns.
  9. Recognizes artifact (patient or environmental) and corrects the cause.
  10. Possesses the knowledge of appropriate actions to take during patient emergency situations and ensures patient safety.
  11. Logs all tests and fills out charge documents.
  12. Accurately files records and reports.
  13. Answers telephone inquiries regarding appointments and test information.
  14. Attends neurodiagnostic educational sessions and inservice training sessions.
  15. Attends cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification (CPR) training sessions.
  16. Assists in establishing and maintaining department procedures and protocols.
  17. Assists in process improvement studies.
  18. Practices Universal Precautions at all times.
  19. Technology – Embraces technological solutions to work processes and practices.
  20. Safety Awareness – Fosters a “Culture of Safety” through personal ownership and commitment to a safe environment.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Education - Preferred

Must be a graduate of an approved/accredited Allied Health program.

Minimum Work Experience

Minimum of one (1) year experience with neurodiagnostic studies.

Required Licenses / Registrations

REEGT or REEGT ELIG - Registered Electroencephalographic Technologist or Eligible.

*Newly graduated technologists will have 12 months from hire/position date to obtain required EEG registration.

Required Classes/Skills -

BLS - Basic Life Support.
