Job description

Why M Physicians?

Regardless of role, we recognize that every member of our team is vital! The EEG Technologist performs prescribed electroencephalogram tests, with the knowledge and ability to collect, assess, interpret, and intervene as appropriate in the care of pediatric, adult, geriatric, and critical care patients. This position may also serve as a clinical resource to Neurology.

What you will do:

  1. Prepare patients and equipment for EEG procedures.
  2. Operate equipment to record electrical activity of the brain during procedures.
  3. Monitor patient respiration, heart, and brain activity during procedures.
  4. Record evoked responses from patients.
  5. Prepare readings for interpretation by a Physician, including annotating and identifying EEG activity.
  6. Perform standard and complex electroencephalographic recordings and evoked potentials in accordance with the standards of care, objectives, and procedures of the EEG Laboratory and Epilepsy Monitoring Unit.
  7. Ensure availability and proper functioning of supplies and equipment.
  8. Assemble and adjust equipment.
  9. Clean, replenish, and maintain instruments and supplies as needed.
  10. Participate in the evaluation of new equipment or supplies.
  11. Assist other team members with cleaning of the procedure room and patient preparation.
  12. Adhere to standards of clinical practice and patient care appropriate to the age and condition of the patient.
  13. Collaborate with Physicians and other staff.
  14. Respect confidentiality of all information in compliance with HIPAA standards.
  15. Demonstrate ability to deliver care or service, adjusting approaches to reflect the developmental level of the population served.

What you will need:

  • For Registered EEG Technologists: R. EEG T. certification is required.
  • For Non-Registered EEG Technologists: One of the following pathways is required:
    • EEG Pathway 1: Graduate of an accredited EEG or Polysomnography training program.
    • EEG Pathway 3: Associate's degree with 1 year of experience working towards R. EEG T., with documented proficiency.
    • EEG Pathway 4: 2 years of clinical EEG experience.
    • Required: R. EEG T. certification within 2 years of employment.

If selected for hire, compensation and job classification will be individually determined based on a candidate's background, including licensure, certifications, and experience level.

Location: UMMC, East Bank - 500 SE Harvard St., Minneapolis, MN 55414

Additional Locations: UMMC, Children's - 2450 Riverside Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55454

Hours: 0.75 FTE (30 hours/week) - 3 x 10 hour days (11:30 AM - 10:00 PM), Week 1: Monday, Friday, Saturday & Week 2: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday

Compensation: $27.02 - $41.92 USD Hourly
