An established healthcare organization is seeking a dedicated EEG Technician to join their Neurophysiology Programs. This role involves performing electroencephalography (EEG) and long-term monitoring for patients of all ages, ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout the process. Participates in a process of instruction and activity to perform electroencephalography (EEG) and long-term monitoring (LTM) via scalp and intracranial electrodes on adult and pediatric patients across all Neurophysiology Programs, including Epilepsy Surgery and Pediatric Monitoring Programs. Prepares equipment and supplies for such procedures. Aids advanced neurophysiology staff and providers in performing neurodiagnostic and similar studies as required.
Provides and supports real-time neurotelemetry, monitoring patients undergoing testing within the critical care EEG (CCEEG) LTM program across YNHHS, including adult and pediatric epilepsy monitoring units (EMUs). Alerts the care team for STAT responses to witnessed seizures and events, focusing on patient safety, reducing fall risks, and capturing events on video.
Monitors and annotates recordings within neurodiagnostic systems, reports on electrographic features and clinical manifestations noted in videos, troubleshoots and reports equipment issues, and communicates critical findings to the clinical team. Notifies the NeuroDTS/BMDI team concerning repairs and maintenance, ensuring adherence to quality standards per national guidelines, including ACNS standards.
Demonstrates patient and family-centered care (PFCC) principles by working collaboratively with patients and families, providing excellent customer service, and creating a positive first impression. Promotes a professional, inclusive work environment aligned with Yale New Haven Health standards.
Education: Graduation from high school or equivalent. An associate degree or higher is preferred, or enrollment/graduates of a CAAHEP-accredited neurodiagnostic program. Preference for students or graduates of the YNHH School of Clinical Neurophysiology.
Experience: 3-4 years in a patient care setting within a hospital or clinical environment, such as polysomnography, EMT, PCA, CNA, or similar roles.
Licensure: Certification in EEG (REEGT) by ABRET or registered polysomnographic technologist (RPSGT) by BRPT must be obtained within 2 years of hire to qualify for advancement.
Special Skills: Intermediate computer skills, troubleshooting network connectivity, self-directed, team-oriented, excellent communication skills, and familiarity with clinical environments.
