Job summary

NMA is seeking an EEG Technician to perform high-quality EEG studies and collaborate with physicians and staff to support neurological assessment and patient care.

You will apply electrodes using the 10-20 system, monitor readings, document results, and participate in cross-training for related neurodiagnostic services. The role emphasizes safety, accuracy, and HIPAA/compliance adherence.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of an accredited EEG or Neurodiagnostic Technology program.
• Registered EEG Technologist (R.EEG T.) or ABRET credential preferred.
• Current BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine, extended, ambulatory, and continuous EEG studies according to established protocols and physician orders.
• Apply EEG electrodes using the International 10-20 System and maintain impedance levels.
• Monitor EEG readings in real time and document significant waveform changes and events.
• Perform activation procedures (hyperventilation, photic stimulation, sleep deprivation) as ordered.
• Maintain documentation within EEG system and EHR.
• Prepare EEG recordings and preliminary observations for physician interpretation.
• Support additional neurodiagnostic or patient monitoring services as needed (NCS, TCD).
• Educate patients and families on EEG procedures and ensure comfort and safety.
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and disinfect EEG equipment per policy.
