Job summary

Neuromonitoring Associates Llc is seeking an EEG Technician to perform routine and ambulatory EEG studies, ensure data quality, and safeguard patient care across inpatient and outpatient settings.

You will apply electrodes using the 10-20 system, monitor real-time readings, and assist with related tests as needed while documenting findings for physician interpretation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Graduate of an accredited EEG or Neurodiagnostic Technology program.
• R.EEG T. or ABRET credential preferred.
• Experience with EEG acquisition software is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine, extended, ambulatory, and continuous EEG studies per protocols.
• Apply EEG electrodes using the 10-20 system with proper impedance.
• Monitor real-time EEG readings and document significant events.
• Conduct activation procedures as ordered and document observations.
• Maintain documentation in EEG system and EHR; ensure data quality.
• Support related neurodiagnostic services as needed and train others.

Position Title: EEG TechnicianDepartment: Neurodiagnostic ServicesReports To: Clinical ManagerFLSA: ExemptPosition SummaryThe EEG Technician is responsible for high-quality electroencephalogram (EEG) studies and works collaboratively with physicians and clinical staff to support accurate neurological assessment, testing, and patient care. This role ensures accurate data acquisition, patient safety, and adherence to clinical, regulatory, and quality standards across inpatient, outpatient, and long-term monitoring settings. The EEG Technician will support related neurodiagnostic or patient monitoring services consistent with departmental training and competencies.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesClinical & Technical DutiesPerform routine, extended, ambulatory, and continuous EEG studies according to established protocols and physician ordersApply EEG electrodes using the International 10-20 System and maintain appropriate impedance levelsMonitor EEG readings in real time, identifying and documenting significant waveform changes and clinical eventsPerform activation procedures (hyperventilation, photic stimulation, sleep deprivation) as orderedMaintain accurate and complete documentation within the EEG system and electronic health recordPrepare EEG recordings and preliminary observations for physician interpretationCross-Service SupportSupport additional neurodiagnostic or patient monitoring services such as, but not limited to, Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS) & Transcranial Doppler (TCD), as needed based on operational needs and trainingParticipate in cross-training and competency development for additional services as requiredPatient CareEducate patients and families on EEG procedures in a professional and compassionate mannerEnsure patient comfort, safety, and privacy throughout the procedureRecognize and respond appropriately to patient distress, seizures, or adverse eventsEquipment & EnvironmentMaintain, troubleshoot, and disinfect EEG equipment in accordance with policy and infection control standardsEnsure supplies are stocked and equipment is calibrated and functioning properlyReport equipment issues or safety concerns promptlyCompliance & QualityAdhere to hospital policies, infection control standards, HIPAA regulations, and accreditation requirementsParticipate in quality assurance initiatives and performance improvement activities within NMA.Maintain competency and continuing education requirementsQualifications & RequirementsEducation, Licenses/CertificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent.Graduate of an accredited EEG or Neurodiagnostic Technology program.Registered EEG Technologist (R.EEG T.) or equivalent credential (ABRET), preferred.Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.Experience1+ years of EEG experience preferably in an acute care or outpatient setting.Experience with long-term monitoring (LTM) or ICU EEG, preferred.Familiarity with electronic medical records and EEG acquisition software, preferred.Ability to recognize normal and abnormal EEG patterns (within scope).Skills & CompetenciesStrong attention to detail and technical accuracy.Excellent communication and patient-interaction skills.Time management and organizational skills.Professional judgment in fast-paced clinical environments.Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.Working ConditionsPossible exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous materials; use of protective clothing required.May include inpatient units, outpatient clinics, ICU, or epilepsy monitoring unitsOccasional travel to healthcare facilities in urban and rural areas.Variable work schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, and availability during non-scheduled work times.Physical DemandsAbility to lift up to fifty (50) pounds.Ability to stand, turn, and stoop in an operating roomAbility to drive or commute as needed.Disclaimer: The statements herein are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees and are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of responsibilities, duties, and skills required of personnel so classified.
