Job summary

Discovery Lab (Tulsa Children's Museum) seeks an Educator of Community Learning to facilitate playful, hands-on STEAM activities for children and families in our Science Lab, WorkShop, and Little Lab spaces as well as at community sites around Tulsa. You will ensure guests have a world-class experience that sparks joyful curiosity.

This part-time, nonexempt role requires after-hours and weekend work, with at least one year of teaching experience and strong Microsoft Office skills to support

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate energetic STEAM activities in Science Lab, WorkShop, Little Lab, and at community events.
  • Engage guests of all ages including students, teachers, and families.
  • Collaborate with the education team; problem-solve and communicate effectively.
  • Support front-line operations and assist other staff as needed.

Job description

The Educator of Community Learning will facilitate playful, engaging, and hands-on STEAM activities for children and families at Discovery Lab in our Science Lab, WorkShop, and Little Lab spaces as well as in a variety of settings around the Tulsa area. This position is responsible for ensuring guests have a world-class experience that sparks joyful curiosity.

Primary responsibilities include:
  • Energetic facilitation of STEAM activities in a variety of settings, including Science Lab, WorkShop, Little Lab, and community partners hosting STEAM Booths.
  • Engaging guests of all ages including students and teachers on field trips, families playing to learn together, and community groups.
  • Collaborating with the education team, problem solving, and effectively communicating.
  • Assisting other staff as needed and having a positive attitude to support the front-line teams.

How you’ll work:

This position is nonexempt regular part-time position. The typical work schedule for this job varies depending on staffing needs. After-hours and weekends are required. Moderate to loud noise environment, general office environment, classroom environment.

Salary Range:

$16.34 - $22.06 per hour

Reports to:

Education Manager

Physical Demands:

20% sitting, 70% standing, 10% lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling not more than 10-30 lbs.
