Job summary

Horace Mann is seeking an experienced Insurance Agent to serve a specialized educator market and manage an existing book of educator clients. You will retain, renew, and expand policies while delivering tailored insurance solutions and retirement options for school personnel.

As a 1099 Captive Agent, you will build relationships, generate new business through referrals and partnerships, and leverage value-added programs to support educators’ long-term financial planning.

Qualifications

• Active insurance license in Life, Health, Property & Casualty (SIE) and ability to obtain additional FINRA licenses within 12 months.
• Proven experience as an Insurance Agent or Agency Owner, specializing in Property & Casualty, Life, and Retirement solutions.
• Strong relationship-building skills with educators and school personnel.
• Self-motivated and goal-oriented with the ability to work independently.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, especially in explaining policies to non-financial professionals.

Responsibilities

• Assume and grow an established book of educators and school employees.
• Retain and renew existing policies while ensuring customer satisfaction and long-term relationships.
• Generate new business through referrals, school partnerships, and networking in the education sector.
• Identify cross-selling and upselling opportunities to offer life and retirement products.
• Educate clients on coverage options, policy benefits, and financial protection tailored for educators.
• Share value-added programs like Student Loan Solutions, Financial Wellness Workshops, and Classroom Funding Assistance with DonorsChoose.
