Qualifications

• Three or more years of post-secondary education or 90 semester hours in an education-related field.
• Appropriate Department of Education Certification.
• Experience with children in a school setting.
• Training or experience in the application of behavior management.
• Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
• Ability to work with computers and other educational technologies.
• Ability to follow multi-step directions.

Responsibilities

• Provide instructional and assessment support to individuals or small groups under the general guidance of the teacher.
• Collaborate with supervising teacher and carry out lesson plans independently.
• Maintain a safe environment through consistency and communication with students and staff.
• Follow student plans as defined in written plans or as directed by the teacher with approved techniques.
• Conduct, record and summarize student observations as directed.
• Apply classroom rules, expectations, materials and assignments consistently.
• Maintain timely and accurate records of student work, progress and other areas.
• Prepare calendars, bulletin boards, and instructional support materials as directed.
• Meet with supervising teacher regularly and participate in staff meetings.
• Alert teachers to changes in student behavior or performance and adjust interventions.
• Use educational technologies to document or support student learning.
• Perform additional duties as requested by the Building Administrator or supervising teacher.
• Maintain confidentiality about all aspects of student performance and records.
• Demonstrate respect for the rights of students, staff, and the community.
