Job summary

Soliant Health in Mount Prospect, IL is seeking a contract Sign Language Interpreter to support students for the 2026-2027 school year, starting August 19, 2026, with assignments ending between June 1 and June 4, 2027, depending on the assigned school.

The interpreter will provide classroom, assembly, and meeting interpretation, tailor styles to students' needs, and collaborate with teachers, case managers, and paraprofessionals to promote inclusive learning and equitable access.

Qualifications

• Current certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (SLI).
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL).
• Previous experience interpreting in an educational or school setting preferred.
• Ability to facilitate clear communication between Deaf/hard-of-hearing students and staff.
• Openness to collaborating with education teams, parents, and support staff.
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal abilities.
• Commitment to supporting student learning and inclusion.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive sign language interpretation during classroom instruction, activities, assemblies, and meetings.
• Adapt interpreting style to meet the unique needs of each student.
• Collaborate closely with teachers, case managers, and paraprofessionals to support students' academic goals.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines for educational interpreters.
• Participate in school-related training and professional development as necessary.
• Help ensure all students have equitable access to curriculum and school life.
