Job summary

Qvschools is seeking an Educational Interpreter to provide sign language interpretation, transliteration, and access support for deaf and hard of hearing students within the classroom and related settings. The role ensures access to grade-level instruction and active participation in IEP activities.

Under the supervision of the Special Education Administrator, the interpreter collaborates with teachers, peers, and district staff to uphold IDEA, Section 504, and ADA requirements, while

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• EIPA 4.0+ or RID certification or PESB-approved alternatives required.
• Meets PESB/OSPI requirements and ESSA requirements.
• Experience with Deaf and Hard of Hearing students preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with communication access strategies as identified in IEPs or by staff.
• Attend IEPs, trainings, and team meetings; coordinate with outside interpreters when needed.
• Confers with educational team to prepare for interpreting and planning.
• Interpret state testing following IEP and OSPI guidelines.
• Provide sign language interpretation and transliteration in educational settings.
• Maintain confidentiality and professional standards per NAIE guidelines.
• Collaborate with general and deaf education teams to support student access.
• Report incidents and participate in multidisciplinary collaboration as required.
