Job summary

YAI - Seeing beyond disability is seeking an ASL-English interpreter to provide accurate communication access for deaf and hard of hearing students within the school setting.

You will work as part of the educational team, advocate for accommodations, participate in IEP/CSE meetings, and support staff by teaching basic ASL signs. Confidentiality and HIPAA compliance are essential in all duties.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in ASL-English interpreting or related discipline.
• At least 1 year of ASL-English interpreting experience with D/HH.
• Ability to interpret ASL-English using a variety of methods for varying levels of comprehension.
• Proficiency with computers and learning Workday and Salesforce.

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate communication access for D/HH and deafblind students.
• Advocate for hearing-related services and accommodations.
• Informally teach or lead ASL sessions to staff.
• Participate in IEP and CSE meetings regarding access and curriculum.
• Maintain confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
