Job summary

ProCare Therapy is seeking a dedicated Sign Language Interpreter to support a single student in a Cary, IL school. This full-time, contract-based role runs August 19 through June 3 and involves onsite interpreting during school hours from 7:55am to 2:40pm.

You will provide clear, 1:1 ASL interpretation, collaborate with teachers and staff, adapt signing style to student needs, and maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries throughout the academic year.

Qualifications

• National or state certification in Sign Language Interpretation (EIPA, RID, or state licensure)
• Prior experience as a Sign Language Interpreter, preferably within a school setting
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
• Comfortable providing 1:1 interpreting services in classroom and school environments
• Strong understanding of student confidentiality and professional boundaries
• Reliable, punctual, and committed to the full academic year

Responsibilities

• Deliver clear, accurate sign language interpretation for a designated student throughout the school day
• Work collaboratively with classroom teachers, support staff, and administrators
• Modify signing style and vocabulary according to student needs and age level
• Foster a positive, supportive atmosphere to encourage student engagement and independence
• Maintain professional records and participate in educational team meetings as required
