Educational Publishing Coordinator

About This Role

The Educational Publishing Coordinator leads the production and distribution of Extension publications-from author submission through publication and ongoing availability. This position serves as the central coordinator for author communication, publication workflows, online distribution, and digital record-keeping. This position will assess and modernize current publishing practices, leveraging automation and technology to reduce manual workload and improve turnaround times.

This position is On-site.

All employees must reside in the United States when they begin working to comply with state law. K-State is unable to provide remote or hybrid work opportunities for residents of the state of Idaho.

What You’ll Need to Succeed
Minimum Qualifications
  • Requires a high school diploma (or equivalent) and nine years of
Relevant Experience. Requirements May Be Met Through a Combination of education and experience.
  • Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, publishing, journalism, marketing, business administration, education, social sciences, agricultural communication, or a closely related field.
  • Strong project management, organizational, and time-management skills, with demonstrated ability to handle a high volume of concurrent projects.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in written and verbal English communication, including clear, precise, and audience-appropriate writing.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy and quality in all work products.
  • Tech-savvy and self-directed, with a proven interest in identifying and adopting tools and technologies that improve efficiency.
  • Experience working collaboratively with subject-matter experts or specialists.
  • Familiarity with editorial standards, style guides, and publication quality standards.
  • Experience managing publishing, communications, or content production workflows.
  • Experience with Extension, land-grant university, academic, or educational publishing.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards and inclusive design practices (e.g., ADA, plain-language communication).
  • Experience with digital publishing platforms, content management systems, e-commerce or online bookstore administration, or publishing automation tools.
  • Experience leading process improvement initiatives or implementing new systems in a production environment.
Additional Role Information
  • Requires sustained management of a high-volume, deadline-driven workload across multiple simultaneous projects.
