Job summary

Three Lakes Educational Cooperative USD 287 - West Franklin Elementary @ Appanoose in Pomona, Kansas is seeking a paraprofessional to assist a certified teacher in the instruction of exceptional students.

Starting immediately, the role requires a high school diploma or GED. You will participate in inservice trainings, support inclusion, monitor safety, and help implement IEP goals under licensed staff guidance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED (minimum).

Responsibilities

• Perform with direction of licensed staff in a manner consistent with requirements of law, rules and regulations, local district policies and procedures, and TLEC policies and procedures.
• Attend TLEC and district inservices as requested.
• Complete required inservice hours as designated by Kansas State Department of Education.
• Attend staff meetings as requested.
• Maintain excellent attendance.
• Work to implement the vision and mission of TLEC and the school district.
• May be required to transport students.
• May be required to maintain current driving requirements to transport students by bus, van, or car.
• Comply with confidentiality requirements regarding all matters pertaining to students, parents, parent communication, and/or classroom activities.
• Interact with students in a respectful manner that reflects knowledge of disabilities and diversity.
• Provide documentation of observations using basic data collection techniques as needed.
• Establish and maintain positive rapport with learners, teachers and administration.
• Use developmentally and age-appropriate strategies, equipment, materials, and assistive technologies, under guidance, to accomplish instructional objectives.
• Assist in maintaining a safe, healthy learning environment.
• Use strategies to promote student independence and social skills.
• Implement strategies for behavior management per IEP and Positive Behavior Support Plan.
• Work with individuals or small groups on specific language or motor development and track progress per IEP.
• Serve as a positive role model.
• Report incidents to the Teacher, Principal, and TLEC Office.
• Follow district and TLEC health and safety policies.
• Participate in IEP meetings when requested.
• Provide work-related instruction in school or community settings.
• Assist with supervision during teacher absence.
• Other duties as assigned by the special education team.
• Demonstrate scheduling flexibility and adaptability.
