Job summary

Loudoun County Public Schools in Virginia seeks a skilled educational interpreter to voice and interpret for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students across classrooms and events, ensuring accurate conveyance of spoken messages and the spirit of the speaker.

Under supervision of teachers and administrators, you will support communication, participate with the educational team, and maintain confidentiality while adapting interpretation to the student’s language level.

Qualifications

• Experience as an educational interpreter.
• Virginia QA Screening Level II/III/IV or EIPA 3.0+ with progression to EIPA 3.5 within two years.

Responsibilities

• Act as the facilitator of communication between Deaf and Hard of Hearing students, school staff, fellow students, and others as appropriate.
• Accurately voice interprets for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students.
• Interpret the message faithfully, conveying content and spirit using the student’s primary mode of communication.
• Maintain confidentiality in all interpreting assignments and uphold appropriate interpreter-student relationships.
• Collaborate with the educational team and adjust interpretation to match the student’s language level.
