Job summary

Alexandria City Public Schools seeks an Educational Audiologist to support students with hearing difficulties within the IEP framework. The role collaborates with DHH staff to identify, assess and implement hearing assistive technology for ages 3–22, and serves as the technical expert for auditory access in the curriculum.

This is a 10-month, 195-day licensed position reporting to the Director of Special Programs & Related Services in the Office of Specialized Instruction.

Qualifications

• Master’s or doctoral degree in Audiology or Audiology/Speech Pathology from ASHA-accredited program.
• Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology is required; VA license in Audiology.
• Two+ years of educational audiologist experience preferred but not required.
• Experience fitting FM/DM systems for children with cochlear implants or hearing aids preferred.
• Ability to perform multiple complex technical tasks in the school environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide assessment/consultation for hearing assistive technology needs.
• Perform functional listening assessments in the classroom.
• Observe classrooms and measure noise and acoustics for accommodations.
• Conduct school-based audiological evaluations including inner/middle ear tests.
• Perform tympanometry, otoscopy and real-ear measurements as needed.
• Lead device selection, fitting, validation and management of hearing assistive tech.
• Prepare written materials (logs, reports, IEP docs) for documentation.
• Provide in-service trainings to staff on hearing loss and assistive technology.
• Create monitoring plans for proper use and documentation of devices.
