Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent plus approved examination (ParaPro or ParaPathways) OR 48 college credits (3 in math, 3 in English) OR an associate degree or higher.
• Substitutions: CDA credential, 15 bachelor credits, or an associate/degree in education can substitute for required experience.
• Educational Assistant I–III roles require progressive levels of general and specialized experience with direct interaction in educational settings.

Responsibilities

• Independently perform academic and instruction-related support activities, tutor students, and report on progress and difficulties.
• Provide social, vocational, and daily living instruction to students with disabilities, observing and reporting progress and suggesting modifications.
• Provide counseling support, develop rapport, encourage expression of problems, and carry out activities promoting self-concept and social skills.
• Deliver articulation reinforcement lessons and repetitive drills to improve speech sounds under guidance of a speech pathologist.
