Job summary

Hawaii State Department of Education is seeking Educational Assistants (Educational Assistant III) for Hawaii, with consideration for Educational Assistant I and II as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required with approved exam (ParaPro or ParaPathways).
• At least 48 college credits with 3 in math and 3 in English, or an associate degree or higher.
• Substitutions acceptable: CDA, 15 bachelor credits, or an associate/degree in education.

Responsibilities

• Independently supports academic and instruction-related activities, tutors students, and reports progress.
• Provides social, vocational, and daily living instruction to students with disabilities, observing progress and suggesting modifications.
• Carries out counseling support activities, builds rapport, encourages expression of problems, and promotes self-concept and social skills.
• Delivers articulation reinforcement and drills to improve speech sounds under supervision of a speech pathologist.

Education

48 baccalaureate-level credits (3 math, 3 English)

Associate degree or higher from an accredited institution

Substitutions: CDA credential, 15 bachelor credits, or associate/degree in education
