Job summary

Memphis-Shelby County Schools is seeking an Educational Assistant - Proximity Support to co-facilitate blended instruction under a teacher's mentorship. You will help students individually or in small groups, monitor progress, and communicate with the classroom teacher to optimize resources.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or 2 years of college (48 semester hours) required.
• One year experience with children in an educational setting preferred.
• CPR and First Aid certification required or able to obtain.
• Proof of education, training, and/or experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Supports students with learning skills introduced by the classroom teacher.
• Assist the teacher of record with establishing classroom leadership skills and hands-on student interaction.
• Distribute education content including notes, tests, and assignments.
• Provide instructional support to students in varied classroom settings (whole group, small group, and individual).
• Provide additional support to enhance student achievement through co-teaching and reinforcement of learning concepts.
• Encourage collaboration and creativity from a student perspective in a smaller, controlled setting.
• Assist the teacher with maintaining an organized learning environment.
• Monitor student progress and document academic/behavior data for reteaching opportunities.
• Distribute progress reports to MSCS students as needed.
• Attend professional learning sessions and district-provided trainings as required.
