Job summary

Douglas County School District is seeking an Educational Assistant (EA IV) to provide intensive support to students with Significant Support Needs (SSN). You will assist with positioning, mobility, health monitoring, and personal care under a licensed teacher, ensuring safety and engagement in a structured setting.

The role emphasizes implementing IEP goals, facilitating communication methods, and promoting independence while working within a team.

Qualifications

• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions for implementing IEPs, health plans, and behavior protocols with high fidelity.
• Strong commitment to student dignity, safety, and promoting the maximum level of independence for all students.
• Willingness and ability to assist students with personal care, toileting, and mobility, including lifting and transferring (with appropriate training)

Responsibilities

• Assist with student positioning, transferring, and mobility using specialized equipment (e.g., wheelchairs, stands).
• Monitor and provide delegated health care procedures, including seizure monitoring or emergency medication administration, per training.
• Maintain a safe and clean learning environment, including equipment sanitizing and supervision during transitions/mealtimes.
• Support students with IEP goals across academics, functional skills, communication, social, and vocational training.
