Job summary

St. Louis Community College is seeking a ceramics studio technician to provide technical and instructional support for its ceramics courses at the Florissant Valley campus.

This part-time role is limited to 10 hours per week and involves maintaining studio safety, assisting with loading and unloading kilns, and helping students in class. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent with extensive ceramic arts experience; a BFA in Ceramics is preferred.

Job description

The Communications, Design, and Creative Arts Department at STLCC-Florissant Valley campus is seeking a ceramics studio technician to provide technical and instructional support for its ceramics courses. This is a part-time position and is limited to 10 hours per week.

  • Primary Duties Performed

    • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety standards in the ceramics studio and outdoor work areas
    • Loading, firing, and unloading kilns,
    • Perform minor repairs and adjustments to studio equipment
    • Mix, test, and maintain glazes, slips, and stains
    • Manage supply inventory
    • Recycle clay
    • Provide instructional support in the classroom
  • High school diploma or equivalent with extensive experience in ceramic arts and studio management. BFA or higher degree with a concentration in Ceramics is preferred.
  • This position is limited to 10 hours per week.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift heavy objects.
