Job summary

Dennis Elementary in Springboro is seeking an Educational Assistant to support students with identified special needs, helping them gain the benefits of the district's education program. You will assist with assignments, work in small groups to reinforce learning, accompany students on field trips, and collaborate with the evaluation team.

The position requires an Ohio Educational Aide Certificate (or eligibility), a valid Ohio driver’s license, a background check, and the ability to perform

Qualifications

• Valid Ohio Educational Aide Certificate (may be obtained after employment).
• Must possess valid Ohio driver's license.
• Must pass criminal background check.
• Must be able to perform heavy lifting.

Responsibilities

• Assists students in completing academic assignments and self-help tasks in all curricular areas, working towards completion of IEP goals and objectives.
• Works with small groups of students to reinforce material introduced by the teacher.
• Accompanies student(s) on class field trips or community experiences.
• Serves as a resource person, if and when requested, to the evaluation team conferring about the assigned students.
• Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.
• Assists the student(s) to whom assigned in such physical and personal daily tasks
• Demonstrates positive relationship with students, staff and parents.
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANT

Dennis Elementary

Works with pupil(s) with identified special needs, in an effort to provide them with the academic and emotional support needed to gain full benefit from the district's special education program. Reports to the building principal.

Duties/Responsibilities & Essential Functions

• Assists students in completing academic assignments and self-help tasks in all curricular areas, working towards completion of IEP goals and objectives.
• Works with small groups of students to reinforce material introduced by the teacher.
• Accompanies student(s) on class field trips or community experiences.
• Serves as a resource person, if and when requested, to the evaluation team conferring about the assigned students.
• Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.
• Assists the student(s) to whom assigned in such physical and personal daily tasks
• Demonstrates positive relationship with students, staff and parents.
• Establishes, as fully as possible, a supportive and sympathetic relationship with students.
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Conditions Of Employment

• Effective Date: 2026/2027 school year ASAP
• Terms of Employment: One-year probationary contract.
• Hours of Work: 7.25 hours per day / 193 Day contract (including 9 paid holidays)
• Salary and Benefits: Starting salary $17.97/hour and benefits as approved in the current negotiated agreement.
