Job summary

Parma City School District is seeking a Support Staff/Special Education Assistant for Dentzler Elementary School. The role runs 6.5 hours per day, Monday through Friday, with a starting hourly rate of $18.24.

Successful applicants will meet Ohio requirements for education aides, have strong communication skills, and be capable of supervising students, including those displaying challenging behaviors. The position closes 07/01/2026.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must have 48 semester hours or have passed PRAXIS PARAPRO exam.
• Experience with students with disabilities preferred.
• Must meet No Child Left Behind Act requirements or have educational equivalence.
• Eligibility to apply for Educational Aide Permit with Ohio Department of Education.

• Work Schedule: 6.5 hours per day, Monday through Friday

• Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED Must have a minimum of 48 semester hours of secondary education or have passed the PRAXIS PARAPRO exam One or two years related experience working with students with disabilities is preferred Must pass the written test or meet the educational requirements of the "No Child Left Behind Act" Ability to meet the requirements and apply for an Educational Aide Permit with the Ohio Department of Education Ability to work effectively with students, this may include students who display aggressive, abusive, or inappropriate verbal and/or physical behavior Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively Organizational and problem solving skills Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing situations Ability to assume responsibility for supervising students Knowledge and ability to apply behavior management techniques in enforcing school discipline in an appropriate context Must possess the physical strength and ability required to lift, assist restrain, or pursue handicapped students Clerical skills; including knowledge of office machines Previous experience working with computers preferred Maintains a good attendance record and is punctual
